Track 1: Industrial Engineering

Industrial engineering is optimization of complex processes or systems. Engineers work to eliminate man-hours, energy, wastage of time and other resources that do not generate value. It is concerned with the development, improvement & performance of integrated systems of materials, equipment, energy, design, analysis, as well as the software tools used in industries. Traditionally it might be used to plan the layouts of factories, designing assembly lines and other manufacturing paradigms. Advanced industrial engineers typically use predetermined motion time system, computer simulation and mathematical tools for modelling.

Manufacturing engineering includes the design and development of products. Manufacturing a product will primary focus on turning raw materials into a new or updated product in the most economic, efficient, and effective with higher constancy and quality, reduction of lead times, simplification of production, reduced handling, improved work flow, and improved worker morale.

The scope of healthcare management engineering can broadly be defined as developing managerial decisions for efficient allocation of human and financial resources needed for delivery of high-quality care using various mathematical and computer simulation methods and a well-functioning health care system requires a robust financing mechanism; a well-trained and a reliable information on which to base decisions and policies; and health facilities and logistics to deliver quality medicines and technologies.

Track 4:  Pharmaceutical engineering

Pharmaceutical engineering is a branch of medical science and technology that involves in development and manufacturing of products and components in the pharmaceuticals industry i.e. drugs & biologics where they also are involved in the conception, design, scale-up, manufacturing plants,  operation of research facilities, packaging processes and labeling  in the conversion of chemical and biological materials into valuable pharmaceuticals and pharmaceutical therapies. The specific field of pharmaceutical engineering has only emerged recently as a distinct engineering discipline. pharma engineering now brings the problem-solving principles and quantitative training of engineering to complement the other scientific fields already involved in drug development. They have to implement FDA regulations, validation assurance (VA), quality control, and maintain Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) compliant facilities. In inclusion to the safety of the end product, they have to maintain a level of personal and environmental safety.

Track 5: Ergonomics

Ergonomics is a principle concerned with understanding of interaction between human and the equipment material in the workstation, designing, evaluation & product modelling and manufacturing applications. It is relevant in the design of such things as safe and easy-to-use interfaces to machines and equipment. Proper ergonomic design is necessary to prevent repetitive injuries and other musculoskeletal disorders, which can develop over time and can lead to long-term disability.

Track 8: Environmental Impact of Industrial Engineering

New process designing to manufacture a certain product requires careful planning and resources. Industrial engineers design the process to create an Ecologically Sustainable Organization which would benefit the business in reducing the wastage which acts as a by-product. This ideal state can be reached by limiting energy use and materials through product redesign, using renewable materials.

      Industrial Engineering is concerned with the design, improvement and installation of integrated systems of men, materials and equipment. Why Dubai?

Dubai is the most populous city in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). It is located on the southeast coast of the Persian Gulf and is one of the seven emirates that make up the country. The city of Dubai is located on the emirate's northern coastline and heads up the Dubai-Sharjah-Ajman metropolitan area. Dubai is to host World Expo 2020.

Dubai has emerged as a global city and business hub of the Middle East. It is also a major transport hub for passengers and cargo. By the 1960s, Dubai's economy was based on revenues from trade and, to a smaller extent, oil exploration concessions, but oil was not discovered until 1966. Oil revenue first started to flow in 1969. Dubai's oil revenue helped accelerate the early development of the city, but its reserves are limited and production levels are low: today, less than 5% of the emirate's revenue comes from oil. The emirate's Western-style model of business drives its economy with the main revenues now coming from tourism, aviation, real estate, and financial services. Dubai has recently attracted world attention through many innovative large construction projects and sports events. The city has become iconic for its skyscrapers and high-rise buildings, in particular the world's tallest building, the Burj Khalifa.

Dubai provides a world class education and also enormous job opportunities. The most well-known universities in Dubai are American University in Dubai, Hult International Business School, Al Ghurair University, The American College of Dubai, University of Wollongong in Dubai, British University in Dubai offering courses in Business Administration, Engineering, Architecture and Interior Design. Welcome to the 3rd International Conference and Exhibition on Industrial Engineering. The recent few years has seen a great shift in the way industrial engineers perform. The data revolution did not skip this profession and we see a move from labor intensive, machine focus tasks to data intensive tasks. Such a shift require changes in the science underlying the profession (combining areas such as operations research and human machine interaction with data science), and in the education of the industrial engineers of the 21st century.
